Dr. Darria Long, MD MBA is a Yale and Harvard-trained emergency physician, mother of three, bestselling author of Mom Hacks, national regular guest on networks including CNN, NBC, BBC, and Netflix, and TedX speaker of the widely popular An End to “Crazy Busy”.
Dr. Darria is a national spokesperson for the American College of Emergency Physicians, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on Injury, Violence, and Poisoning Prevention, and a spokesperson and advisor for Babycenter.com.
She earned her emergency medicine training from Yale School of Medicine, and MBA from Harvard Business School. Previously on Harvard Medical School Faculty, she is now a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee.
As a Harvard and Yale-trained Emergency physician, Dr. Darria understands having too much to do in the most stressful of situations – and too little time to do it. She quickly learned techniques to save time – and lives. But when she developed a life-threatening heart condition, she had her own wakeup call to find solutions for her own health challenges.
Dr. Darria is a national spokesperson for the American College of Emergency Physicians, and a TV regular across national and international networks.
Dr. Darria is an author in the pre-eminent textbook of emergency medicine, Harwood-Nuss Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine, as well as author of multiple medical research journal articles.
Her book, Mom Hacks, became a national best-seller.
Dr. Darria earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, her residency in emergency medicine from Yale University School of Medicine where she was a Clinical Instructor, and her MBA from Harvard Business School. She later joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School, where she was an Instructor of Medicine.
Dr. Darria resides in Atlanta, GA, with her husband, renowned hand surgeon Dr. Bryce Gillespie, and their three children. She loves hiking with them, impromptu dance parties, and squeezing any snuggle time she can.
